Laughing Redhead Studio is the studio of Teresa Roberts Logan. She is a Reuben Award-nominated cartoonist who has made her living with her art and wit for eons. She also loves teaching art and leading workshops in various art media. Her book of cartoons from Andrews McMeel Publishing is "The Older I Get, The Less I Care," and she is a contributing author to "Laughing Out Loud" from Hallmark Books, "Humor for a Sister's Heart" from Howard Publishing, and "Mug of Woe," an independently published book award winner! Her cartoons were also featured in the collaborative book, "New York City, Real and Imagined," a book by artists about New York City.
Please check out her BLOG (see the button over to the right) for the latest news and Tweets and updates, plus oversharing in general.
Here's the long version of her bio, as if you had that kinda time:
Teresa has been writing humor and performing comedy since she was a teenager in Memphis, and has been drawing pretty much since birth. She has an edgy, odd-but-fun, original style and a friendly stage presence which appeals to people of all backgrounds.
Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, home of Elvis and the best BBQ in the world, she did interesting freelance jobs such as doing storyboards for music videos (ZZ Top) and working on the now-cult-classic zombie movie, "I Was a Zombie for the FBI," for which she provided some art direction, as well as the pig guts for the really grody scenes.
During this highly formative time, Teresa also drew comics and kept copious notes of hilarious things which floated through her mind.
Soon she was hired to do that for a living. Teresa moved to Kansas City to work as an artist and writer for Hallmark Cards, where she got to draw, write, and argue with locals about who has the best BBQ, Memphis or Kansas City. She was encouraged by the guys in Shoebox to try standup . . .
Mere minutes later, she went to an open mic night at a local comedy club in Kansas City . . . which changed her life. In a good way. She made the tough decision to leave Hallmark and hit the road, working the comedy club and one-nighter circuits, while continuing to freelance for Hallmark and other gift industry companies.
She lived in beautiful Colorado for 20 years (where, the one time she went downhill skiing, she had to be rescued), and now makes her home in beautiful Virginia & Washington, DC, with her husband Gary (if you do Shakespeare, you know him) and her son Andrew (who loves snowboarding, kayaking, longboarding, and playing his didgeridoo).
She recently had a book of her cartoons published by Andrews McMeel Publishing: "The Older I Get, The Less I Care," which reflects her highly evolved life philosophy. For more of Teresa's humorous writing (in a published form), check out "Mug of Woe," "Laughing Out Loud," and "Humor for a Sister's Heart."
Rich Jeni called her "the Meryl Streep of comedy". The Denver Post calls her "effortlessly funny". "Hilarious" is the word most often used by her audience and in client reviews.
HBO's "Comic Relief", A&E's "Comedy on the Road" and "Evening at the Improv", the hit TV series "Bananas", and Warner Brothers' hit DVD release "Thou Shalt Laugh", Gospel Music Channel's "Comedy Quickies", and the upcoming comedy DVD release "Comedy Angels", as well as Zanies Chicago, Catch A Rising Star Las Vegas, and Comedy Works Denver are just naming a few of Teresa's featured comedy appearances. She has opened for Ellen DeGeneres, Drew Carey, Paula Poundstone, Dana Carvey, Kevin Nealon, and Jerry Seinfeld, among others . . .
See below or see CONTACT page if you'd like to book her. Teresa's not big on using the phone, but really loves pen, paper, and a lovely Mac product.
"OUT-OF-THE-BOX, EDGY, HILARIOUS, HONEST, REFRESHING" are some of the words used to describe the art and comedy of Teresa Roberts Logan.
Hmm. Anything else she can think of? Oh, yes!! She won some art awards in high school, helped make a zombie movie in college (did she say that already?) and loves loves loves teaching art. Oh, and Memphis has the best BBQ. Always.
